The Omaha World Herald released All-State volleyball and football teams this past weekend.
Area girls were nearly shut out of the all-state honors this year. Callie Percival, a Junior at Pawnee City was named second team all-state in Class D1 and Courtney VanGroningen, a junior at Sterling was named second team all-state in Class D2.
Jordan Lechner, a senior from Syracuse was named all-state in Class C1 and her teammate Megan Farley, a junior was second team all-state.
Earning honorable mention all-state honors in volleyball were:
C-1 - Ashley Wheeler, Hanna Harmon and Jacqueline Frary of Auburn; and Aimee Hillyard from Falls City;
C-2 - Brittney Lester and Breanna Borrenpohl from Johnson County Central; Shelby Hardin, Jayni Zvolanek and Brooke Milligan from Southern;
D1 - Ashton Albers, Maggie Kramer, Delaney Rees and Katy Sisco from Lewiston; Janae Koester ( Kooster); Karryn McQueen and Trisha Sejkora from Pawnee City;
D2 - Maggie Parrish, Hannah Malcolm, Amy Froeschl and Mallory Hillyard from Sacred Heart;
Willow Hunt from Sterling
