The Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference announced the 2009 All-MCAC Women‘s Volleyball Teams Sunday following the completion of the MCAC Women‘s Volleyball Tournament in Bellevue, Neb.
Peru State had five members off this year’s squad receive honors. Junior Chelsea Bergman from Ithaca, NE was named to the All-MCAC First Team.
Teammates Kelsie Haug and Emily Maresh received second team honors. Haug is a senior DS from Omaha, NE and Maresh is a freshman from Central City, NE. Tara Carstens, a middle blocker from Lincoln, NE and Sarah Novak, a junior from Howells, NE were named honorable mention.
The Peru State Volleyball team finished the regular season with a record of 14-19 overall and a 8-6 MCAC Conference record that allowed the Bobcats to finish in fourth place overall.
Seven Bellevue University Bruins earned post-season honors as the 2009 all-Midlands Collegiate Athletic Conference volleyball team.
Bruins Senior Rachel Muller was named the MCAC Player of the Year and Jordan Broady earned Freshman of the Year honors. Broady is a Johnson-Brock High School graduate. Broady has directed the Bruin offense all season, averaging 10.65 assists, 2.34 digs and 0.96 kills per game while hitting .302.
Bruins Coach Trish Siedlik was named the MCAC Coach of the Year for the sixth time in her career and for the fourth-consecutive season.
Sophomore outside hitter Kali Schnacker, an HTRS graduate was named to the second team.
